




Butterfly laser diodes are precision laser modules that integrate a semiconductor laser chip with temperature control, optical coupling, and monitoring components inside a hermetically sealed metal package. A typical butterfly package includes a semiconductor laser chip, high thermal conductivity submount, thermoelectric cooler (TEC), thermistor, precision collimating optics, fiber coupling assembly, and a hermetic metal housing with electrical pins. Optional components such as optical isolators and monitor photodiodes (PD) are also available depending on the application requirements. This highly integrated architecture provides precise temperature regulation, stable wavelength control, efficient fiber coupling, and outstanding long-term reliability.
Butterfly laser diodes are widely recognized as the industry standard for high-performance fiber-coupled laser sources. They provide excellent beam quality, stable wavelength control, efficient heat dissipation, and reliable continuous operation, making them ideal for demanding applications such as fiber optic communication systems, DWDM and coherent optical networks, fiber optic sensing, optical test and measurement equipment, Raman and absorption spectroscopy, LiDAR, quantum optics, atomic physics, as well as medical and industrial laser systems.
Our butterfly laser diode portfolio covers both standard and highly specialized products with outstanding optical performance. For example, our 1550nm 200mW DFB butterfly laser achieves an equivalent Lorentzian linewidth below 100kHz, making it well suited for coherent sensing and precision measurement applications. We also offer a range of unique high-power butterfly lasers that are rarely available on the global market, including 1030nm 200mW DFB, 1030nm 500mW FP single-mode, and 808nm 600mW FP single-mode products. In addition, we provide high-reliability pump laser diodes for continuous industrial operation, including 976nm FBG-stabilized butterfly lasers with output powers of up to 1W, combining excellent wavelength stability, low power degradation, and outstanding long-term reliability.
